This photo was taken kind of unplanned.  After finding out that all the campsites were hopelessly full, we found a small parking lot in Passo delle Erbe for the night. It was the first and probably the best night of the whole Dolomites trip. A warm evening, a sunset with reddish hues, and a clear sky at night, occasionally lit up by the falling Perseids. We sat outside until midnight and watched the night sky. That’s when I realized that the conditions were perfect for photographing the Milky Way. I unpacked my tripod, camera, and startracker, scrambled up the opposite hill, and started figuring out the composition. After two hours I was done and the final photo turned out better than I would have expected.
